Introduction
I remember as a child roaming the hills of Stiperstones, making dens in the garden and collecting creepy-crawlies for ’scientific analysis’-helped by my Dad’s science kit presents. Thanks Dad.
As long as I can remember the natural environment has created wonder in my mind, kept me active and inspired me to be creative and inquisitive.
I moved to Plymouth when the photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand was displaying his ‘Earth from Above’ exhibition in the city center. The stunning photographs each telling an environmental story installed an inspiration and belief in the creative practices as ways to communicate science and humanitarian issues. Eager to study facts, environmental challenges and scientific research skills I signed on to the BSc Environmental Science course.
As a graduate I’ve developed practical and theoretical skills in science practice, and created an ever-increasing knowledge base of Science, Politics, Environmentalism, Culture, Media, Corporate Development, Globalization.
I had an invaluable experience working as an intern with staff at Kew Gardens, which exposed me to internationally important scientific research and reinforced a desire to work towards finding solutions to mitigate environmental issues.
Traveling in South East Asia and working with human rights and charity societies at University opened up another dimension of experience and awareness of local and global challenges, directly influenced by climate change and environmental degradation.
This has further influenced my passion and motivation to contribute to improving our ability to rise to environmental challenges.
I’m positive that solutions are and will be in existence. My own goals are to develop my creative skills, gain more teaching experience and continue learning about our environment. In the future I hope to develop exhibitions, environmental films and work alongside institutions and companies with a common goal to finding environmental answers.
